Easy-to-use Tool Kits for Conservation Genetics

Genetic methods are still rarely used in practical conservation management. To change this, various partners from the private and the academic sector joined to develop ready-to-use tool kits, which allows academic but also non-academic institutions (e.g. authorities and consultancies) to apply conservation genetic methods in a standardized way in their everyday work.

Up to now, this collaboration resulted in two ready-to-use workflows dealing with

  • Metabarcoding of amphibian species using eDNA, e.g. for discrimination of morphologically similar water frogs, or
  • Connectivity studies for assessing dispersal and gene flow among populations

Microsynth Ecogenics contributed to this consortium by providing critical molecular biology know-how and services. See the recent publication for more information.
